The supplies! I used 2 pieces of cardstock (and have quite a bit left for my scrap basket), a tape runner, foam squares, oval cutting guide for the Custom Cutting System (Creative Memories), Soft Suede ink pad (Stampin' Up!), wire works (Stampin' Up!) and a small brown scrap of cardstock.

This is the Custom Cutting System with the Oval guides and the 3 different cutting blades (they give you different size cuts in graduating size of 1/4 inch.)

Directions: Using the largest oval (for the largest size pumpkin) and the blue blade cut 3 ovals from the outside of the guide. Over lap two of the ovals slightly and on third oval adhere foam squares to pop the center of the pumpkin. Ink your edges (I use a sponge or the finger dauber to do this) before adhering the center oval on top. From your brown scrap of cardstock cut a "stem" piece and adhere just behind the center oval. With the wire works (26-gauge wire) I cut a length (eye-balled) approximately 8-10 inches and wrapped both ends around a pencil then folded in half and secured with a foam dot behind the center oval. I did this for both sides of the stem.

I might add leaves but for now I'm very happy with this little 5 minute craft. I do plan to make more in varying sizes but needed to get a few things done for now.

I hope you enjoyed this little craft project and look forward to your comments and suggestions.

What a fun layout to make! Using the Creative Memories Gems cutting system it was quite easy and the perfect title page for our Disney album. The papers come from the Say Cheese collection, I believe I ordered them through Scrapbook.com but at the moment not totally sure as I got them a while ago. I do love how the flower seems to pop off the black background.

When we travel to Disney World; we color coordinate our shirts to make it easier to keep track of each other and have a different color for each day. Probably the only time we are color coordinated in photos...lol. The difficult part of the matching shirts is trying to get them in styles that we all like, and when some of our family members that live in different states join us. Also we have found that we need not only short sleeve tees but also long sleeve in case of a slightly cooler day.
This is using a project recipe (Bookworm) from Creative Memories, using the Say Cheese paper collection and the filmstrip border maker cartridge from Creative Memories. I love how it gave me the chance to use 9 photos and still have a clean look.

The Project Recipes are so versatile and always great looking whether you use the paper collection they were designed for or other papers. I'll be sharing a beach album I've been working on with my granddaughter soon that we used the Cool Serenity Project Recipe. I'll also show how to change sizes from 12 x 12 to 8x8 pages.

Until next time Happy Scrapping,

I want to share my love of crafts, cooking, connecting with people and love of family. Grab a cuppa and get to it.

About a year ago, I began selling Creative Memories, mainly for and to myself because I love their products. The papers and albums are top notch quality; but honestly the tools are my absolute favorite!

Creative Memories did go through a period of closing a few years back and then was bought by Caleb Hayhoe and it is back! The products are kept fresh and of great quality. Believe me you will love the products and tools!

Talking about the products and tools from Creative Memories I wanted to share a layout I made a couple days ago. It uses the new paper pack Toil & Trouble, black cardstock, goldenrod cardstock, the new Victorian stand alone border punch, Leaf Trio Punch, and the new Pumpkins Border Maker cartridge along with an original (yellow) Sizzix die - Ghosts

I don't usually pre-make my pages; but knew I wanted to use the Victorian Fence border punch for a Halloween page and will be filling it with photos shortly after Halloween. The Layout is based on a Project Recipe (Sketch) from Creative Memories (Countryside Comfort - another new paper collection this month).

I will be posting more tomorrow evening, so please come on back and join me!

What has been going on? Well Jaiden finished up Kindergarden and has played all summer long with her friends. Her dance recital was held the week before school finished, which brought a week of practices every night and definitely wore her out.

We made a couple trips to Hershey Park this summer, and spent a few days at the community pool. Although the summer has really been a mild one and leaves me to wonder what winter will be like? I don't mind snow, but hate the bitter cold we had last winter.

Bill and I got to go on a vacation; just the two of us! Something that rarely ever happens and it was nice! We spent two nights in Orlando and didn't quite get to spend time at Universal Studios as we had talked about (luckily we didn't have tickets already) but we got to spend time with each other which is the best!. From there we drove to Palm Beach and boarded a Royal Bahamas (Bahamas Celebration) cruise ship for an overnight cruise to Freeport, Bahamas and spent two nights at the Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort and then returned to Palm Beach via the cruise ship. We ended our trip with a one night stay at a lovely B&B in Lake Worth, FL and had dinner with our daughter and her boyfriend.

The cruise was really wonderful; lots to do and we really didn't do anything but explore the ship on the way to Freeport but still enjoyed it. The cruise back to Palm Beach we played Bingo, watch a comedian, balancing act, and magic show. Listened to a little bit of karaoke and walked on deck looking at the stars. The food was great!
Let me just say....Don't go to the Bahamas in August! Even the locals told us that it normally isn't that hot but wow it was this year! The humidity on top of the heat was too much for me. I think we spent as much time in our room under the AC as we did on the beach....lol.

But with all good things there has to be an end, so we arrived back home to 67 degrees and rain. And good news followed up for me the next day when I stepped on the scales. Normally not something I enjoy doing at all, but from the morning we left on our week's vacation til we got home with all you can eat buffets both on the ship and at the resort I only gained 4 ounces! Of course it would have been better to have lost weight but hey not putting on pounds is okay too. I really think I melted it off during the heat and humidity, but I'm not going to complain about how.....LOL.
I still have to download the photos (which I didn't take that many really.....well not for me) and will post a few of the gorgeous view on the beach when I do.

Jaiden is set to start first grade in about 1.5 weeks and is all ready with school supplies and new school clothes so a first day of school photo will also soon be posted. Along with a few crafting photos which I haven't downloaded those photos either. I guess I need to get busy and start setting aside a certain time frame to down load photos and be prepared.

Till next time!Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-25859055602513602022014-07-19T09:24:00.000-04:002014-07-19T09:25:12.612-04:00Another Waterfall Folio...and a gift flip album; my they are addicting!Yesterday and early this morning I completed another Waterfall Folio and love it!

It just seem to be screaming at me to use with the new paper pad I got at JoAnns (DCWV Dear Jane). I love Jane Austen and this paper pad is just perfect!
Some of the pages of the waterfall. Light pinks and cream and then the brown with portraits of Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, Elizabeth and Jane Bennet. Just takes me back to reading "Pride and Prejudice".

Maybe I should watch one of the versions today; while sipping a nice cup of hot tea in a china teacup.....dreaming of days gone by!

Oh wait as reality sets in.....there is much cleaning and stuff to do. I guess the movie watching will have to wait til tonight.

I didn't remind idle since my last post until now though. I made a flip album for a co-worker/friend of one of my sons for her birthday. She doesn't like cut flowers so he wanted to get her something she would like and be able to use. Mom to the rescue....lol

With her little boy in mind I came up with this:

Just a few different patterns using blues and light green. Leaving most of the embellishing for her once she puts in photos.

This one is a called a Waterfall Folio. Many possible uses for it, but I'll let you decide what you think it is best suited for.

A sleek 4 inches wide and 8.5 inches long and only 3/4 inch wide; "how much could it hold?" you ask. Quite a bit really

A pocket and the right side holds the waterfall effect of places to put your little pictures or quotes or souvenirs.
Isn't this a neat little album. This again is a design I got from http://mysistersscrapper.com/2014/07/graphic-45-waterfall-folio-tutorial/ I think this is one of my new websites.....lol.

I will post again soon with some of the swaps I've been working on but really like for the people to receive them before I reveal. So that won't be for about a week as they are all being mailed today.
Until next time....have a Happy and Safe week.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-33193373814424451602014-07-17T06:16:00.002-04:002014-07-17T06:16:20.088-04:00Second mini album...and thirdThis little album is almost like a thick card, and I wish I could give you a website to go to but I printed the directions off quite sometime ago and can no longer find the site to give proper credit.

It is hard to believe that we are already half way through July! Where has time gone?

There have been several changes here on the home front and it possibly means I will have more time for playing in my craftroom....but maybe I shouldn't speak to soon on that front....lol.

I have been bitten by the mini album bug it seems! Last month for a swap in OurCreativeTable kicked it off. I made my first from the cover and everything mini album.
Every page having either a flip page and a pocket sliding page. It was a lot of fun and kicked off new found skills. Of course Jaiden asked me to make her a "Pinkalicious" album; which also includes green and purple in the mix. It is still a work in progress. This one though I did add a few minimal embellishments since it was for someone else (and didn't get photos of the few additions). Directions for this can be found at http://mysistersscrapper.com/2013/07/pocket-page-mini-album-tutorial-series-part-1/ The entire directions are in 5 parts; click on the links below each part.

As with all addictions this one has lead to two of this type album, two of another album and a third design. I'll share those in different posts to not overwhelm with too many photos at once.

Hope you enjoy!Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-72108013886254214832014-03-18T05:38:00.000-04:002014-07-17T06:02:38.902-04:00Springtime?I get the feeling that Mother Nature isn't gettng on board with the whole Spring is coming sentiment.

Yesterday (St. Patrick's Day; which usually brings Springtime to my mind at least) brought 6 inches of snow and sore muscles from shoveling...definitely not my idea of spring starting. It definitely has been a cold and long winter this year.

I'm sure it wil arrive one day soon!
On a much sweeter note: Yesterday morning Jaiden decided to make a Leprechaun trap with the two hour delay for school. It was quickly done and all hers.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-30535462166449388202014-03-10T05:25:00.001-04:002014-03-10T05:25:51.741-04:00Spring Cleaning has arrived!I've dabbled for the past week on getting this going but today is the day to really get going on this. I will be begin with my kitchen and craftroom...taking a full week to get my kitchen done and allowing the craftroom more of a good straightening today. I know I won't get it all done in two weeks time but at least a good start for the month.
Yes as crazy as it may sound I'm putting a time limit to get it done in....deadlines tend to help me out....lol. Nothing like putting pressure on ourselves.
I'm trying to get back on track with Flylady by using the weekly zone plus adding extras each day; hence the kitchen taking a week....second week of the month is the .....you guessed it Kitchen!
I feel by doing it this way when the rooms next roll around for the zone of the week I will have a headstart with doing some of the overlooked areas of it.....at least it sounds good early in the morning to my mind.....LOL.
I still have a few things to get done on my swaps for the month and really need to get busy with scrapping LOs for the amusement park album before adding more pictures to get to for this subject...not to mention a dance recital and birthday party coming up for my favorite subject....Jaiden.
So for now I leave to go get busy....perhaps later I will post pics of my progress in the adventure of Spring Cleaning!
I'm making my ornaments about 4 inches tall so if I decide to give them to a young couple they will fit on a smaller tree but won't be totally lost on a larger tree either. I'm leaving the backside blank so a photo of the couple could be added if they would like.

March Swaps and ornament will have to be completed before adding them so this will be the last post today....lol.

Hopefully Spring is on it's way and we can all begin to thaw out.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-84624951566656344942014-03-03T20:02:00.001-05:002014-03-03T20:02:46.284-05:00More updates on creative playAlthough not quite as soon as I'd planned; here are some more photos of playtimes
First working with a new to me technique for a swap: Technique is the "brick wall" technique from the www.splitcoaststampers.com site (I really love this site!)

As a trial I made a card with it. I like the way it turned out, but thought it needed a little something more.

So for a swap with this technique was time to make the tag: The first stamp used was a little too much for my tag so I used a set of Stampin' UP! stamps (tulips). This time I inked the edges of all the "bricks" and love it!

Next was time to make a card for a swap: The theme was Green and Spring (I know I am so ready for Spring like most everyone) I cut the thistle from a Cricut Cartridge (Art Nouveau). Thistles are dear to me filling me with fond memories of the 4 years we spent in Scotland.

ATC Swap: Pastels were the theme! I went through many different ideas before coming up with this simple but sweet card.

Next is the ornament for the Bride's Tree Ornaments: This is a series of 12 ornaments with a symbol of something specific. A custom in Germany is to give a set of the ornaments to a Bride for their first Christmas.

The Teapot is a symbol for hospitality

More photos will follow soon of swaps from January and the ones I'm working on now for March.

Prayers for everyone to be safe, warm and healthy!

I decided today after much soul searching over the last several weeks that I really need to work on things for me. Although it may seem selfish to actually say that, I really think when you hit a place where you feel you are losing who you are and not taking care of yourself something needs to be done.

I have continued to work occasionally on setting up my craftroom and still have a ways to go...of course it is easy to get sidetracked and make a little mess to get some creating time in...lol.
I have been doing some crafting; mostly for swaps and enjoying them I just haven't been posting to share them. I will be working on trying to share them over the next few days.

This hula girl and palm tree will be the stars for Jaiden's birthday invitation this year. She is very excited to be having a luau party....got to get busy on things.

I have been busy making swap items every month and often this is my only crafting, but I'm hoping to get things going again. I'll share items soon (I still have to load them onto my computer or tablet....lol).

This side of the wardrobe is a work in progress also: a few storage boxes for quilling supplies, page kits and right now miscellaneous.

First up is a set of Christmas cards and I went for a simple design.

I love the holly embosed cardstock. This is from paper pad I bought a couple years ago. I layered it on the red cs to draw out the red berries. The green circle is a wreath pattern from the cricut lite cartridge JOLLY Holiday which I decorated with red stickles and cut out the doily from a spellbinders set. The white flower is from the same set to finish it off I used a red pearl adhesive embellishment.

Next was a set of 6 gift tags: I just love making my own gift tags.

I used a shimmer white cs that I embossed with a "Victoria" embossing folder then inked the edges with Brick Red distressing ink. Used a small punch to make the flowers (two shades of red cs) and used a clear glitter stickle to outline the top flower for definition. Cut a leaf from the Sizzix Susan's Garden set of hibicus.

Next is an ornament: For this I cut out the Christmas Tree 4 times and tore three of them at the different lengths and slightly curled the edge. Layered these onto the fourth tree, then used the stickles (clear) to give a slight "snowed" look. I then used some adhesive pearls for the ornaments and a glittered star for the topper.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my little creations and now I'm off to watch a game between OU Sooners and Baylor Bears! Have a great weekend and check back later for more creations.

Our daughter recently moved out and the room is being transformed into an office/craft room....okay more craft room but the desktop and printer will be located in the room also....lol. Yes it is sad to have DD so far away (she is in Boynton Beach, FL) but she is happy and enjoying the sunshine, warmth and the boyfriend close.

So far the room has a cutting station organized for using my cricut and cuttlebug, and most of my papers organized. Still working on the stamps and all the other things but it is coming along and I hope to have a work station set up with in the next week.
I'll post photos soon if anyone is interested in the grand tour....lol.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-40133862975167006352013-11-07T18:24:00.001-05:002013-11-07T18:24:25.886-05:00November already?Wow October just flew by!
I just don't know where it went. I did get a little crafting in for some swaps at Ourcreativetable@yahoogroups.com
First was a swap for Artist Trading Cards with the theme of sharing what we are thankful for. I went with a general fall theme as I love the sesason with all it's rich colors and beauty.

Next was a mini "quilt" wall hanging and I chose to make one from scrapbook paper using the pattern of Hula Twist. I'm hoping it brings the warmth of friendship to it's reciepient who should recieve it today.

The last swap was for an altered item: It could be anything that we altered. I did something I have been planning to do for so long. I used a plastic case from an older sizzix die and made a mini fall album to go inside.
Time to try and catch up: Jaiden started school on 9/5/13 and loves it! Her class seems to have a lot (almost half) of rhyming names! More like a teacher's nightmare, but I'm sure the kids are all wonderful and the teacher feels blessed to have them all in her class.

I've gotten a little crafting done lately, although not quite as much as I would have liked but here goes with the sharing.

For the September swaps on OurCreativeTable (used to be ARTHavencreationsandfriendships) I participated in the Definition ATC, Halloween Tag, and Halloween Hangy Danglie. I have sent my tag and Hangy Danglie off (this morning) to their new home and must say I like how they turned out.
The tag:
And the Hangy Danglie:
A small "basket" stand up card for a Sizzix 101 online class at www.mycreativeclassroom.com I'm taking and hoping to use my dies more often in my crafting. My beloved Uncle James (we called him Uncle Beige) passed away a few days ago. He was such a kind and peaceful man, I never heard a single unkind word from him.

I have always loved butterflies and always thought them to be special. A few years ago a dear friend who had lost her grown daughter shared with me what she told her grandchildren how they could communicate with their Mother. Butterflies, are a messenger from God to carry all our messages to our loved ones and back. Sent from God to keep watch over us and help us in our times of sorrow and joy.

With this in mind I created this card using Pergamano for my Aunt Cleo.

I only dabble in Pergamano and lately only seem to make cards with it for sympathy cards. It takes me a little while to find the design I want to use as it must speak to me and about the person the card is for. Once selected as I work I think of the person and what they are going through. I also say prayers for them and the healing for their heartache.
The length of time I spend working on these cards are my way of sending hugs, and lots to love to the person receiving them.

Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-76745269098371862862013-08-23T21:19:00.000-04:002013-08-23T21:19:03.473-04:00A few finishes for the weekI spent some time finishing up a few swaps this week, and here they are.
First not for a swap but my pumpkin Patch kit for August. The top left is the way the instructions had you make it but I changed it up for the other three cards.

Next is the Garden themed card. I knew I wanted to make a garden gate card even before the swap came up, so thought it the perfect thing when the theme was announced. After I cut the gate card I felt I needed to back the gate with something, so I used vellum. Then I felt it needed something for the vellum to "frost" (not sure what to call it......maybe "hide") so I stamped small flowers and leaves in a climbing vine type of pattern. Then decided something else was needed so I quilled some wildflowers (Quilled creations dies) and fixed on the front side with a punched butterfly. The gate was inked with multiple inks and embossed multiple times to give it a shiny aged gold look (this was done right after cutting out).

Next is the butterfly ATC: I really like how these turned out. I first cut my cardstock 2.5" x 3.5" (white) then stamped leaves and roses from the Stampin' Up! stamp set Cottage Rose (definitely decorative stamp set) then I embossed them with the Victoria embossing folder (Cuttlebug....I think) and inked the raised design with Stampin' Up! Pistachio Pudding ink pad. Then I added glitter to the detailed edges of the flowers. Punched the butterfly and glittered the edges of the detail punch and faux stitched the dark pink solid punch, layered it on to a flourished square which I faux stitched. Added the smoked topaz 3mm crystals for the butterfly body.
On last Friday, a friend lost her Mom and as I thought of her I prayed for the Lord to lift her up and give her strength during this time of grief.
I tend to make Parchment craft (Pergamano) cards for these special times when someone needs that lifting up and love during difficult times. Here is the card I made for her.

Next was finishing off some ATCs for a swap with a butterfly theme. One of my favorite things...butterflies! Which I still have to take photos of...I can't believe I haven't yet....lol. Oh well those will be posted at a later time.

Yesterday I had a chance to make a Thank you card for my friend Paula. Last week she gave me an embossing folder for my birthday and a couple nights ago an idea popped into my head on exactly what I wanted to do with it.

Unfortunately the photo isn't the best and doesn't really show the vibrant colors. I love how it turned out!

Today I received my Paper Pumpkins kit for August (from Stampin' Up!) and it was a kit for 4 cards. According to the instructions you make them the same...well not me.
Although simple in design I think they are cute and just holler summertime. The one in the top left corner is the way the instructions said to make them.
Anyhow...it is time for me to head to bed. Tomorrow will be a busy day; I'm heading to a Phillies baseball game with a meal before hand at Xfinity. Hopefully they win!
Good night and God Bless you All!
Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-18702248772693018912013-08-06T15:47:00.002-04:002013-08-06T15:47:49.303-04:00Amazing alignmentI love how every once in a while things just align so perfectly.
On Aug 1st, I was going through my email and checked on challenges on Colorful Creations to see things I would hope to work on. Several of the current ones sounded like fun to try, but one really popped out at me. Anything Goes Challenge: Steam punk! I have never tried using steampunk style anything before but know others have and do a wonderful job mixing the Victorian era with the invention era.
My daughter later that day was telling me how she wanted to have a Steampunk costume for Halloween and her boyfriend thought she should make it. HA she doesn't know how to sew and since he doesn't either and there is no way they will learn before then. Guess who is making the costume...ME!
I thought about how this would be my subject for my LO...our journey of making her costume. This is the first page.
The paper is some Paula gave me a few months ago, but I thought was perfect for it with the copper foil accents in it. I then used some copper foil cardstock and embossed with TH SteamPunk embossing folder and my Cuttlebug. Almost perfect...just needed some aging, so I used TH alcohol ink Black Soot and added the aging. Layered this on black to make it pop from the background a bit.
I also thought the photo viewer wheel would be a nice addition. This I cut with a pale yellow (cream) colored cardstock and then used Distress Inks (black soot and tea dye) and Dewdrop copper to age it and the tag. I used some alpha stickers I've had for a few years and added some TH metal embellishments. The photo on the tag is of the pattern we are using and the other photos show the fabrics and a head piece I found to dress up for the occasion.
Now to get the pieces cut out and sewn together.
Watch for our progress along the way.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-77976030064762301812013-07-27T13:24:00.000-04:002013-07-27T13:24:10.850-04:00Altered TP roll treat holderFor one of the July swaps at Arthavencreationsandfriendships@yahoogroups.com we were to alter a roll from toilet paper. This was alot of fun, and there really are so many ideas out there for toilet paper rolls. One of the ideas that intrigued me the most I found at
The theme from the swap is summer: here is my interpretation of this. I hope Penny really likes this. I plan to add a bit of a treat for her as well.
Another of the swaps was a personalized wall hanging for our partner. Mine is for a lovely lady (Rita) in Texas who loves the colors blue and brown and beige flowers. This is what I made for her. I hope she likes it.
Next to work on is finishing up the ATCs. Look for them soon.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1811478695543574491.post-41607000806184333132013-07-24T12:04:00.001-04:002013-07-24T12:05:56.897-04:00A crafty week so farThis has been quite a crafty week for me so far and it is only Wednesday.

First was the Ice cream cone shaped card (previously written about) on Sunday, then on Monday I made some paper flowers.

These turned out so nice I think. Always in the past mine would turn out only slightly dimensional and still pretty much be flat no matter what I did to them. I used the TH Alterations Tattered flowers sizzix die. To give them more depth I also inked the edges with TH tea dye distressing ink. I love inking the edges!
These were for a wall hanging for a swap I'm in which I completed Tuesday. I would love to share a photo at this time; as I love the way it turned out, but I feel the wonderful lady it is for should see it first. I plan to mail it out tomorrow and hopefully by the beginning of next week will have it in her little hands.

Yesterday I also embarked on a just for fun project with my sister Cyndi. As we rarely get to see each and both would love to travel and vacation together, we have started (today) having fantasy vacations. You didn't know I'm really on a cruise ship right now...lol.
For our little "trips" I even made a passport!

Although this is silly to some, we are exploring the world from our houses and sharing the memories of our inexpensive vacations. We have both been to several places in the world but not the same ones, we will be sharing these with the other and are both looking forward to our excursions. Who knows where we will "go" next. Europe or Hawaii are both on the list.Mzplcdokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01046218841493526786noreply@blogger.com0
